About Custom Basins

Custom Basins Limited is a small, family-run business founded by husband-and-wife team Niko and Annie.

The idea for Custom Basins came from a very real problem we experienced ourselves.

In 2017, Annie opened Bellissima Beauty, a home-based beauty and aesthetics salon. One of the challenges we faced was finding a practical way to provide hot and cold running water in a treatment space where installing permanent plumbing was difficult.

We searched for a solution, but nothing we found offered the combination of practicality, functionality and appearance that we wanted.

So we decided to create our own.

That original idea became Custom Basins: compact, self-contained sink systems designed to provide hot and cold running water without requiring a permanent water and drainage connection.

Our background in the professional beauty industry meant that we understood the realities of working in salons and treatment rooms. We knew a sink needed to be functional, but it also needed to look professional and fit comfortably into the space around it.

That remains at the heart of what we do today.

Why “Custom” Basins?

The “Custom” in Custom Basins really does mean what it says.

From the beginning, we have tried to offer customers more than a purely functional sink. Where available, different styles, finishes and configurations allow customers to choose a unit that works with their professional environment rather than looking like an afterthought.

Our journey into North America

Our relationship with North America began in January 2024, when we first started supplying Custom Basins products to customers in the United States.

In September 2024, we travelled to Pensacola, Florida, to exhibit at the ECHB Expo.

It was a relatively small event, but for us it was the perfect introduction to the market. We were able to meet US professionals face to face, hear directly about the challenges they experienced with plumbing in salons and workspaces, and understand how our self-contained sink systems could fit into the North American market.

We loved our time in Pensacola and began seriously exploring the possibility of establishing a permanent operation in the United States.

Our plan was to relocate with our family and operate a US warehouse, allowing North American customers to buy Custom Basins products with domestic fulfilment rather than having their units shipped from the UK.

In January 2025, we began the lengthy legal and immigration process required to pursue that plan.

While the process was underway, we continued building our presence in the North American beauty industry.

In September 2025, we sponsored and attended a PMU industry conference in Miami, giving us another opportunity to showcase our products, meet artists and business owners, and learn more about the needs of the US salon and beauty market.

After more than ten months of preparation, our plans to relocate ultimately did not go ahead following the outcome of our US visa application.

At the same time, continuing uncertainty around tariffs, import costs and international logistics led us to temporarily stop supplying customers in the United States and Canada.

Demand brought us back

Although we stopped actively shipping to North America for a period, the enquiries never really stopped.

We continued receiving messages through social media from customers in the United States and Canada asking whether they could still buy our units.

That told us something important: the problem that led us to create Custom Basins in the first place exists just as much in North America as it does in the UK.

In spring 2026, we made the decision to start supplying North America again, but with a different model.

Rather than trying to establish a permanent US warehouse, Custom Basins remains UK-based and now supplies a carefully selected range of products directly to customers throughout the United States and Canada.

Our compact self-contained sink units are supplied fully assembled and shipped by DHL, while selected larger salon hair backwash units can be supplied using door-to-door sea freight.

This allows us to continue serving North American customers while being completely transparent about where we are based and how our products reach you.

Designed for professional spaces

Our self-contained sink systems are particularly suited to environments where installing permanent plumbing may be difficult, disruptive, expensive or simply unnecessary.

Customers use Custom Basins in settings including:

• beauty and aesthetics salons

• PMU studios

• tattoo studios

• treatment rooms

• clinics

• hair and beauty spaces

• other professional workspaces requiring convenient access to hot and cold running water

The units incorporate their own fresh and waste water storage, pumping system and water-heating equipment within the cabinet, depending on the model.

They are supplied fully assembled, with the intention of making installation as straightforward as practical.

Safety and compliance

Safety and compliance are an important part of how we develop and supply Custom Basins products.

We maintain a documented safety and compliance framework covering our product portfolio and the markets in which we supply, including the United States and Canada.

Our North American configurations use components and electrical arrangements selected for the market they are supplied into, with supporting documentation maintained within our technical file.

Because electrical requirements can vary between premises and jurisdictions, customers should always ensure that the intended electrical supply is suitable for the specifications of their chosen unit before use.

Our systems are designed to operate as self-contained sinks and are not intended to provide drinking water.

Serving the USA & Canada from the UK

Today, Custom Basins remains proudly UK-based.

We do not operate a US warehouse and we do not try to present ourselves as a US-based company.

Instead, this website exists specifically to make it straightforward for customers throughout the United States and Canada to understand which Custom Basins products are available, how they are supplied and what to expect when ordering from us.

Our experiences in Pensacola and Miami gave us first-hand insight into the North American beauty and salon market, but it is the continued demand from customers that has kept us supplying the region.

Whether you are opening a new salon, adding a treatment room, working in premises without permanent plumbing or simply looking for a flexible self-contained sink solution, the idea behind Custom Basins remains the same as it was at the beginning:
